utilities, parks and recreation, solid waste, billing, etc and transfers as needed or enters appropriate orders.
Work requires word-processing, data entry and spreadsheet skills.
Additionally, work requires the use and application of basic technical procedures and techniques in performing and responding to routine tasks.
Performs related tasks as required.
Work is performed under regular supervision of the Customer Care Center Manager Essential Functions/Duties Receives customer calls and provide accurate, satisfactory answers to their queries and concerns.
Guide customers to the correct system or department.
De-escalate situations involving dissatisfied customers, offering patient assistance and support.
25% Conducts follow up phone calls to determine customer satisfaction on completed orders and updates the status of orders.
10% Accurately enter client concerns and questions into the City's designated customer service database.
20% Review accounts, providing updates and information about billing.
15% Monitors the City of Gastonia's website and Citynet for any Public Utilities' and Public Works' information, forms and changes.
Also, monitors Citynet and the OMS (Outage Management System) weekly for Building Maintenance, the Street Department, Electric Department, and Water/Sewer-Utilities Maintenance Department with their after-hours scheduling.
10% Serves as a receptionist and directs visitors to the appropriate location, as well as taking accurate messages and routing them to the appropriate person by being familiar with City services.
15% Collaborate with other call center professionals to improve customer service.
5% Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experienced with the use of computers, telephones, printers, copiers and scanners; use of appropriate grammar; ability to maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to work independently in the absence of specific instructions.
Ability to provide excellence customer service while multitasking.
Education/Experience/Physical Demands/Special Requirements/Additional Information EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Graduation from high school or any combination of education and experience equivalent.
Ability to type at least 35 wpm.
Thorough knowledge of data processing and modern management software (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
Previous experience in a local government customer service center preferred.
Interactive office environment with exposure to computer screens; must be able to interact with other divisions and departments inside the City organization; as well as with customers.
Must have the ability to push, pull, or list up to 10 lbs.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
